As businessmen, we usually meet foreign friends from all over the world in our daily life, so we must have met some awkward situations: do not know how to greet foreign people properly.
So, are there any custom that we should pay attention to?
Generally, when Indians greet each other, they will make their hands clasped together, which seems like praying, then shake their heads slightly forward and back and say “Namaste”. In their customs, bow is not a proper way
Indians generally use their right hands to take food and serve tea, and they will never use left hand to do that. They eat with separately tablewares, because eatting food in the same plate is also regarded as a serious taboo.
In addition, Indians do not drink because of religious belief. They prefer vegetablet than meat .
Arabic countries are such states that value meeting manners highly.
No matter whom you greet, friends or strangers, there are different manners to be noticed. If they meet close friends, it will not be enough to show their enthusiasm just by saying “hello” or shaking hands. They will hug each other and cheek kissing.
The proper way is to hold each other‘s left shoulder wiith right hand, and hold each other’s wrist with left hand, then check to check for three times.
First, you should use your left check to kiss your friend's left check, then the right check, finally the left check.
Take Congo as an example, when they meet a guest for the first time, they will rise their hands as high as their shoulders, and turn their palms around; or rise their right hand to the same height of shoulders and shake it slightly back and forth.
When they meet relatives and friends who they have not seen for a long time, they will gave each other an high five with right hand to express happy feelings.
When meeting valued guests, they will thumb up with their right hands and keep the thumb shaking to show greatest respect.
If you plan to visit a friend's home, the day before holiday will be a good time, since it is the most relaxing day.
In addition, if you plan to visit a friend's office, you'd better not choose Monday, because it may be the most busy day in a week.
