During import & export transportation, some of you may suffer from great losses because of accidents like container dropping or cargo damages. Perhaps, sometimes, it is you, paying no attention to cargo stuffing that results in the loss.
Here, we help you figure out how to do container stuffing works properly to lower risks of cargo damage.
English letters
There are 4 English letters. The owner code consists of the first three letters. The forth letter, generally “U”, represents the type of container.
For example: “CBHU” represents containers from COSCO, “CCLU” represents containers from CSCL.
Numbers
There are 7 numbers. The registration code consists of the first six numbers, identifying each container. The seventh number is the check digit, calculated according to the forth and sixth numbers, and is used to verify the container.
If you report wrong container numbers, you should go to the Customs office to apply for number modification, with the following supporting documents:
❶ Modification/Cancellation Form of Import & Export Goods.
❷ Explanation document from the company, and the document should be sealed by the Customs broker.
❸ Related materials of Customs declaration.
When exporting goods, accidental damages during transportation result in inconsistency of the real quantity of cargoes with the declaration number, which leads to failure in Customs clearance.
Therefore, you should pay more attention to cargo stuffing before transportation:
❶ Cargoes of different shapes or packages should be separated.
❷ Goods with dust, humidity, liquid or smelly gas should be segregated from other goods.
❸ Heavier goods should be placed at the bottom.
❹ Goods with bigger packages should be placed at the bottom.
❺ Liquid or cleansing products should be placed underneath.
❻ Goods with sharp corners should be covered up in case of causing any damage.
There are 4 tips when you do container stuffing work:
❶ The total cargo weight should not be over the maximum loading (maximum loading = total packing - tare weight).
❷ Load balancing of the container base is necessary, and you should avoid concentrated load.
❸ Use pad or plywood to keep scattered or fragile products from moving in the container.
❹ Make sure sizes of containers and your products packages so as to calculate the exact space for stuffing and make full use of the space.
Remember, all products should be packed or tied up in case of any damage. In these ways, risks of cargo damage will be reduced a lot!
