In western countries
Spring Festival is the most important festival in China, while Christmas is the most popular festival in western countries.

In India
The population and territorial area of India are more similar to China. And Indian “Chunyun” is usually during Diwali in October.
The picture shown above is actually a little bit exaggerated, but because of inadequate railway system in such large territory, Indian “Chunyun” upsets people in a way.
Train tickets were sold out minutes after reservation opened on Thursday for travel on October 20, two days ahead of Diwali which falls on October 22.
Waiting list has touched more than 200 in all trains while tickets cannot be booked for a few trains to Madurai because reservation has touched the maximum limit.
In Korea
Korea, an Asian country which has similar cultural background and custom as China, also celebrates the Spring Festival and gets “Chunyun”.
Buying train ticket during “Chunyun” in Korea is a hard work. On the first day of ticket pre-sale, many Korean queue overnigt to get tickets.
Last year, It was reported that more than 250 Korean stood in line to buy train tickets before 9 a.m. when tickets began to be sold.

During holiday travelling peak time, travelling safety is what we should pay most attention to.
According to data released by the National Crime Record Bureau, a staggering 27,581 people died in rail accidents in India 2014, many of whom perished after crossing the vast swathes of tracks that border communities, homes and villages. So that’s why India’s train network is so deadly.

More patience & understanding
Indeed, “new year travel rush” exists in many countries. Some are “railway rush”, some are “expressway rush”, and others are “flight rush”.
