Jingdezhen is situated in the north-east of Jiangxi and borders on Anhui; the city center area is located in the north-east of the Poyang Lake Plain.

Jingdezhen has been honored with the title "Porcelain Capital”, whose porcelain has been famous not only in China but in time it became known internationally for being "as thin as paper, as white as jade, as bright as a mirror, and as sound as a bell". 

The late Guo Moruo, a senior official who was also a famous historian and scholar of PRC wrote a poem that says (in translation): "China is well known in the world for its porcelain, and Jingdezhen is the most well-known centre, with the highest quality porcelain in China".

Because the porcelain industry has been developed for long, long time in Jingdezhen, people has link the porcelain with Jingdezhen, like Goubuli to Tianjing. What's more, an university called Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute is the the only one that features by the porcelain.

At present there are more than 300,000 porcelain practitioners in the Jingdezhen, with more than 80 large enterprises. These practitioners produce more than value of RMB 40 billion annually.

You can almost find all kinds of porcelain in Jingdezhen, such as ceramic raw material, special ceramics, art ceramics for daily use ,construction garden ceramics ,construction sanitary ceramics and more.

China Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair is an internationalized and specialized fair, which is sponsored by the Ministry of State Commerce, China National Light Industry Council, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Jiangxi Provincial People's Government. It merges exquisite ceramic exhibition, ceramic cultural exchange and ceramic products 

The successful holding of the fair in the past 13 years have attracted over 3,000 participant enterprises and 3,000 procurement companies and more than 28,000 distinguished guests and friends from 49 countries and regions. The number of total visitors and sightseers reaches 1,000,000. The China Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair has already developed into a world ceramic event and international trading platform, which promoted the exchange and cooperation of the world ceramic in commerce, culture, skills and etc. 

Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute is a unique and comprehensive ceramic institution of higher education in China. It was founded in the world-famous historical capital city of porcelain---Jingdezhen. Most Jingdezhen porcelain is valued by collectors of antique porcelain throughout the world. According to media reports, a blue and white porcelain jar produced in Jingdezhen during the Yuan dynasty was auctioned for the equivalent of RMB 230,000,000 yuan in London in 2005.

This was the highest price ever achieved by a piece of porcelain. The reason for the high price is experts believe it represents the pinnacle of the development of Chinese blue and white porcelain.
