Interestingly, the ban coincides with the 19th CPC National Congress, which kicked off at 9am today and lasts until the end of the month. More on that here, although every expat just know it as a major C-block to anything internet.

In addition, Tencent QQ officially gives notice that because of system upgrade recently, modification of any personal detail in QQ is not available until the next month.

Weibo also officially announced that users could not modify their personal or private chatting group information till Oct. 30th. Meanwhile, oversea user registration is unavailable temporarily during the system updating.
