A new system has been launched at some Chinese International Airports that allows travelers to show a QR code on their mobile phone to pass through security instead of a traditional paper boarding pass.

For example, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport went into effect yesterday, currently applies to passengers flying with China Southern Airlines, Air China, Chongqing Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines, among others, according their official website.
Boarding Procedure
Step 1
Passenger Departure Check-in

Passengers check in via the official channels of the airline(website, SMS, WeChat, APP) and get the QR code(boarding pass).
Step 2
Security Check

Show the identity documents and the QR code to scan in the security verification counter.
Step 3
Gate Check

Show your QR code at the gate to scan again and print receipt.
Step 4
Recheck Before Boarding

Show the receipt to the aircraft guardian in the boarding bridge or the apron boarding ladder.
Now, the boarding procedure is done!
Pay Attention
❶ For those of you that like to travel with all your worldly possessions stuffed in a suitcase (or three), the initiative only applies to those who are catching a domestic flight with carry-on luggage.
❷ Only support the QR code which is sent by the official channels of the airlines, such as SMS, WeChat official accounts, APP and etc. Any QR code sent by the third platform unauthorized by the officials won’t be approved.
❸ Carrying baby, transit, unaccompanied and other special passengers can’t check in via QR code. Please go to the airport as soon as possible to get the paper boarding pass and check in.
The new 'mobile phone check-in' system is intended to "provide passengers with convenient travel," according to the official.
And, in the future, the facility will continue to make use of new technologies so that travelers can "enjoy the convenience of technological innovation."
