Many of you have been in China for a certain period, sometimes you might be asked: "What impresses you most in China?" The first thing jumps to your mind is neither a famous tourist attraction nor a delicious cusine, but the weird Chinese-style English name!
Today an English name is something necessary for a Chinese.
Talking about English name, a Chinese girl named “戴莹(Dai Ying)” remarked on Sina Weibo:"When say hello to foreigners, I don’t want to say 'Hi, I’m Dai Ying(Dying)'..."

But some Chinese-style English names are really amusing. Particularly What kinds are they?
E.g. Apple, Banana, Grape...

If foreigners also named Popcorn Smith, Pineapple Brian, Strawberry Walsh... Sounds really hilarious! Or maybe they are comedians.

And, you must heard about girls’ names like Cherry, Candy, and Juicy. Truth be told, such names are not cute at all, actually, they sound a little bit...well, sexy.

E.g. Tiger, Panda, Bear, Cat...

Chinese often consider some animals like tiger and Bear as the symbol of power and strong, so they use Tiger, Bear and even our national treasure -- Panda as their English names! Come on, we are human beings!
Worse still, I came across a girl called Cookie. Oh, my little pet dog also named Cookie.

E.g. Summer, Rain, Thunder, April, August, Monday...

Rain, Sunny and Thunder... seem like a weather forecast!
And that guy who named summer, where are your mates Spring, Autumn and Winter?

E.g. Ruby, Stanley, Gill, Doris, Barbara, Helga...

As Chinese names, English names also keep up with time. A Chinese has an old-fashioned English name, just like a foreigner who names himself or herself as Jianguo Ma (马建国), Shengli Zhang (张胜利), Fenqiang Liu (刘奋强), Shouying Wang (王守英)... it must not be a good choice!
E.g. Zeus, Apollo, Jesus, Cupid...

God-type names sound aggressive and domineering, thus some Chinese give names to themselves such as Jesus, Zeus, Apollo and Cupid. The same thing, if a foreigner also calls himself or herself as “如来佛祖(Rul Lai Fo zu/Buddha)” and “观音菩萨(Guan Yin Pu Sa/The Goddess Of Mercy)”, what do you think?

A little girl named “小萍(Xiaoping)”, so she names herself in English as “Shopping”...
A man introduced himself in the class, telling:"I’m Dry!" After being silent for a while, everybody suddenly burst into a laughter.
Why Sooooooo INTERESTING???

The truth is, you will always hear about these funny Chinese-style English names here and there in China, just get used to it!
