Take Care! To Avoid Being Bitten by These Bugs...

A rather extreme example recently saw a delivery man fall into coma after being bitten by an unidentified black flying bug. After emergency treatment, the man, named Gong, finally regained consciousness. He is now recovering slowly.

According to Gong, a bug was blown on to his neck. At the time he felt a sharp pain and brushed the bug off him with his hand. But within minutes, his neck had started going numb and his vision darkened.

If bitten and you experience any adverse reaction to the bite, it is important to get to a hospital and get checked over.

Insects are active all over the South in summer. People who get bitten are at risk of contracting to many illnesses, some of which can kill.

Long sleeved shirts and pants are the best choices for outdoor activities in green spaces. Wearing light-coloured clothing is also recommended. Below is some more specific advice on bug bites:

After being bitten, please clean the affected area with saline or soapy water, and apply a medicinal cream to the bite. If there is any sign of allergic reaction, you should go to the hospital as soon as possible.

Be careful in grassy areas, not to sit with your skin exposed. If you feel are unnaturally affected by the heat for a long time after outdoor activities, accompanied by rash/scab in the waist, armpit, groin, please go to hospital as soon as possible.

If you find a rove beetle crawling on your skin, you should flip it off rather than slap it or crush it. If bitten, you should take antihistamines and apply medicinal bite creams to the bite.

Please carry mosquito repellent with you at all times. Don’t sit or lie on grass for long periods. If you find a tick on your skin, do NOT touch it directly with your hands, don’t pull at it, or its mouth may barb into your body. What you should do is to apply rubbing alcohol before carefully removing it with tweezers.
