

Most commonly associated with China, the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) is celebrated around the world. For Chinese and overseas Chinese, it is considered to be the most important festival for the year.
Since the start of the 12th lunar month, the Chinese New Year is near and the preparations begin in advance. The New Year will officially begin on Jan 25, 2020. The New Year's atmosphere is strong now.
Every Chinese New Year starts a new animal's zodiac year. It is the Year of Rat this year.

Traditionally, the festival is celebrated for 16 days from Chinese New Year's Eve until the Lantern Festival with special activities.



All measures are taken leading up to and during the celebrations to increase the odds that as much good fortune as possible is bestowed upon the household.
You may have noticed increasing numbers of passengers at railway stations and airports. It is the world's largest annual migration.

And festive red decorations put up everywhere.
On the New Year's Eve (30th of the 12th lunar month), Chinese family will gather together, enjoying a reunion dinner to celebrate the upcoming New Year.


As the New Year comes, people visit and catch up with their family and friends. Elders give lucky money to kids with their blessings.
