If you marry a Chinese and get a Chinese permanent resident card, will it be canceled in case of divorce?
After a foreigner marries a Chinese, he or she can apply for Chinese permanent resident if satisfy the conditions. It is usually valid for 5 or 10 years, which is not a short period, and we cannot predict future changes.
During the validity period of the permanent resident, if the couple encounters irreconcilable problems leading to divorce, will the Permanent Resident still be valid?
If a foreigner divorces after obtaining a permanent resident card, he or she can keep using the card until its expires. Generally, foreigners must apply for a replacement within one month of the expiration date.
What about after the divorce? When foreigners want to renew the card, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security will review their information. If they don't meet the application conditions, there is no way to renew it!

If there is a practical need that prevents them from residing in China for a cumulative period of nine months each year, they must obtain approval from the local public security department, provided that their cumulative period of residence in China shall not be less than one year in a period of five years.
