Chinese and Canadian government reach a consensus on mutual issuing 10 years long-term Multiple Entry Visa and it will be formally implemented on March 9th. The strategy will have effect on Chinese and Canadian citizens at the same time. According to the relevant arrangements, the Multiple Entry Visa is for the citizens who are engaged in business、tourism、visiting relatives , the longest period for each stay is no more than 180 days, the longest validity period is up to 10 years but no longer than the expiry date of the passport . What`s more, the visa fee reduces to 100 Canadian dollars (550 RMB), Study Visa is 150 Canadian dollars (750 RMB) and Work Visa is 155 Canadian (775 RMB).
The Canadian tourists are consisting of two kinds of people, one is for tourism purpose and the other is for business purpose. Due to the previous restriction of visa, the market of Canada-to-China business travel was not developed well. This policy may promote the growth of the Canada-to-China tourists, including the one for business purpose.
According to the statistics from the Consulate General of China in Canada, Chinese government had issued 230,000 visas for Canadian citizens last year, people who engaged in business、tourism and visiting relatives were up to 80%, that means the vast majority of people from Canada to China will directly benefit from this policy. There`re about 1.5 million overseas Chinese in Canada and more than 100,000 of them are students, those people are the major beneficiary of the policy.
The tourism industry says that the 10 years long-term Multiple Entry Visa is meanly suit for personal visa(G Visa), and has high requirements about the job、income and assets of the applicants, not all the applicants can gain that visa. In addition, the Team Visa (L Visa) still obey to the regulation of “team-in-team-out”, strict requirements about arrival and departure time are made.
The China-Canada trade was 552.4 billion USD last year, China has become the second largest trading partner、the second largest source of imports、the second largest export market and second largest investment destination country of Canada. The reciprocal visa policy makes the businessmen travel far more convenient.
