Different shipping companies have their own requirements for taking delivery goods with different kinds of bill of lading. Only you know this rules can you know how to choose shipping companies reasonably.
In the international trade, there are usually three kinds of bill of lading. They are Original B/L, Telex Release B/L, and Sea Waybill.

Original B/L
Original B/L with a seal, a signature and“ORIGINAL” sign, is given by the issuing party.

It is in triplicate, mailed from consignor to consignee. The consignee takes delivery with Original B/L, which is generally applied into L/C foreign trade.
Telex Release B/L
In order to meet the requirement of consignor (letter of guarantee), Telex Release B/L is sealed (with “SURRENDERED” or “TELEX RELEASED” on it) by the issuing party.

Consignor will fax the B/L to consignee. The consignee is allowed to take delivery only with photocopy of the Telex Release B/L after providing identification.
And the issuing party will give notice to delivery via telegram, fax or E-mail to the consignee.
Nowadays, Telex Release B/L becomes the major document form of shipping business in Near-Sea Shipping Line in particular because of its convenience (time for mailing Original B/L gets really tight in short voyage ).

Sea Waybill
Sea Waybill is a shipping document issued by the shipping company. It is usually only one original of the document and no need to telex release. Consignee can take delivery after providing identification.

For the sake of it high risks, SW is rarely used. Only few of shipping companies in some specific shipping lines provide this kind of Sea Waybill.
