Recently, news about whether Whatsapp is blocked in Chinese mainland go viral via Internet. And people usually compare Whatsapp with the most popular social media in China -- Wechat.
Which is better? We describe differences between Whatsapp and Wechat mainly from 3 aspects:

Registration Process
Set username -- bound with mobile number -- set password -- verification.
Finish registration as long as enter phone number and pass verification.

Interface
There are four interfaces including "Wechat", "Contacts", "Discover" and "Me". What’s more, several features are also involved in the “Discover”.
Appears to be more concise and well-formed with focusing more on the key function of chat app -- "SMS".

Besides from chatting, Wechat provides additional capabilities such as "Moments", "My Stickers", "Mini Programs", "Wallet", etc.
Generally, features in Whatsapp also can be seen in Wechat, and Whatsapp merely has little personalized settings. However, users can send messages each other only if they are both the Whatsapp users (no need to send a friend request).
