A group of 25 college students from Hangzhou went to Shanghai to accept a challenge, spending 50RMB living in Shanghai for 15 days! As we know, Shanghai is one of the Chinese cities with highest living cost.

Will they succeed? Let’s see.
How to save money?
Since there are only 50RMB in each challenger’s pocket, it’s important to reduce the expenses of basic necessities as much as possible.
Housing
All of the challengers chose to live in the rented house with 15RMB each person per day. And the renting expenses are included in the 50RMB.
Transportation
In order to save the costs of the transportation, even 4RMB for the metro ticket, most of them chose to ride the sharing bikes or walk on the streets with the ultra-high temperature of more than 40℃.

See their walking records of "Werun" in WeChat.

Food
Possibly the quickest and easiest street food is the best choice since there are numerous options and low prices.

How to earn money?
Certainly, 50RMB cannot support their living costs for 15 days. They needed to find the part-time jobs as soon as possible and earn enough day-end wages to make livings all by themselves.

Not all things are easy, especially for students with little social experience. After a great deal of falure, they tried many jobs within the limited time.
Such as ...
Text Entry Clerk
Each person can earn 110RMB if they finish 72 pages of junior high school English exercises in limited time.
Food Taster
Taste food in the specific restaurant and finish the report. They need to try many kinds of food or drink in one day.
Telephone Operator

▲From the first call at 10 o’clock in the morning, sometimes they need to make more than 300 calls.
Set Up A Stall

▲Sell glow sticks before the concert.
Promotion Commissioner

▲Help an "O2O" hair shop to do promotion jobs.
English Tutoring Job

▲It’s hard to apply for this kind of job successfully since higher wages with higher demands.
Sing For A Living

▲They sang the songs outside the shopping malls or at the street corners.
According to the regulations, they had meeting every night to report their daily income and expenditure, to calculate the balance. Until the challenge has been completed, the total balance will be donated to public welfare undertakings.
The teacher told them:
The weak will stay at the comfort zones forever while the strong will jump out of it and survive.
As time pass by, more and more members realized that the importance of money is declining, and they became more concerned about their feelings and what they get in the challenge.
At last, someone had balance of more than 1,000 RMB while someone only had few coins.

"A warm moment can offset all the cold shoulders."
One challenger wrote in her diary.
What they benefited the most ,
not the money
but the understanding of life.
