If you make a deal with stranger via WeChat payment and then someone requests you to send 18-digit payment code to him, you must be very careful since you have fallen into a trap!

What’s Going On?
Yesterday, Anti-fraud Center of Xiamen city issued an urgent reminder:
Five citizens were scammed in one day by telling the 18-digit WeChat payment code to others.
The First Move
The day before yesterday, Mr. Zhang from Xiamen wanted to buy a mobile phone software, then he searched online and got a contact of WeChat. After adding each other, the liar asked Mr. Zhang to pay 200 yuan to buy that software.

Mr. Zhang did not think too much and transfer 200 yuan to him directly through the WeChat red packet. Surprisingly, the liar rejected and said that the money of red packet and WeChat transfer is given to personal accounts but not company account.
The Second Move
In order to let the money can be transferred to their company account directly, the liar asked Mr. Zhang to click into the WeChat wallet payment page and tell him the 18-digit code above the bar code to complete the payment.

Mr Zhang thought that it was also convenient, so he told the string of numbers to him. Unexpectedly, scam happened!
The Third Move
A moment later, Mr. Zhang received a bank SMS that required deduction from his account of 2,800 yuan. Before waiting for Mr Zhang to react, the liar sent a voice message...
Liar Sorry sir, I accidentally made a mistake, we have to refund the money through this payment channel...

Mr. Zhang, who was already in a liar trap but did not know, repeated to send the 18-digit payment code to liar again and immediately found that he lost another 2,790 yuan.
The Fourth Move
At this time, Mr. Zhang found to be cheated and asked the liar to refund money but only to find himself pulled into blacklist.
Don’t tell the payment code
to strangers!
Police from Anti-fraud Center of Xiamen said that,
When you click on the payment page, there are three kinds of code, the bar code, QR code and 18-digit code. But the function of these three codes is the same.

As showing the QR code can pay in the shop, if you show the 18-digit code to someone, the other can also take your money away. To capitalize on that, liar scams victims by asking to show the 18-digit code.
Pay Attention to the Notice
Actually, there are many notices in the WeChat payment page.
Open WeChat payment interface, click "tap to view payment code".

The following reminder will be jumped out

If you click "OK", WeChat will remind again.

"To prevent potential fraud, only show payment code to cashier when paying."
Police Warning
Do not scan unknown QR code or click unknown links.
Do not make a screen shot of the WeChat payment page and send to others.
Please keep the bar code, QR code and 18-digit code well in the payment page and don’t disclose to any strangers
Share to remind your friends!
