
Since the end of March, operation of ports in North China including Shanghai Port and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port have been greatly affected by heavy fog. It is reported that the situation is continuing and there are shipment delays along these days.

Worse still, heavy fog shows up again in Changjiang estuary of Shanghai Port, which results in a more sever situation!
According to the latest news, waterways of both South and North Changjiang estuary were in closure of navigation on April 21 because of heavy fog!

Meteorological early warning:
Temporary traffic control on the North and South waterways of Changjiang estuary are conducted due to low visibility with less than 200 meters.
▼“Empty” Changjiang estuary:

Navigation closure results in soaring discharge container fee.
So far, the discharge fee of a small container rises to 500RMB, and 800RMB for a bigger one, comparing to just 200RMB or so per container before.

The heavy fog around Shanghai Port results in shipment delay, leaving many backlogs at the dock in these few weeks.

Meantime, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, lying in the downstream also gets affected. For the time being, shipments are generally a week behind the schedule.
