18 years ago, an old lady, a Shanghai native, found an 8-day-old abandoned black baby who was crying on the grass. She adopted the baby and took him home.

Then she gave him a Chinese name -- Junlong Zhu, and decided to bring him up.

It took 14 years to register Zhu’s residence in Shanghai for the sake of enabling him to enjoy Chinese education as other local do.

Since Zhu has a good command of Mandarin, people described him as a “suntanned Chinese” instead of a hybrid.

Granny Zhu thought there was something dirty on his skin. But after a week she found he is still black evern though he bathed him several time.

He barely cried when he was a baby.

She is happy that now he gets the admission notice from the college.

The tuition fee will be 20,200RMB (3,119 USD) per year, and the food and accommodation at the college will cost a lot. She only earn 2,000 yuan every month which is too low to afford it.

“Let him live his life happily in China.”
Many people keep saying to Zhu that he is different from the others because of his skin color. But he doesn’t think there are any differences between him and the local people or other Chinese. And he has many friends here hit it off.

A foreigner once came to him and asked direction. He didn’t understand the language as the foreigner spoke too fast.It sounded like English but I am not sure.

Zhu says that he is just a 100-kilogram fat guy staying at home all day long.He is not very much looking forward to college life but his grandma has a high expectation.

So far his life is
as perfect as he have imagined.

Their story is so inspired that gets so popular among people around the world.
“We all hope they live a happy life in China.”
