Structure of Terminal 2


The opening of Terminal 2, the largest terminal building on the Chinese mainland, with a floor space of 658,700 square meters, T2 consists of a 4-storey main building and 5 corridors to the gates.

  • The first floor has been designated as the arrival area, providing various connections to the city proper or to other PRD cities.

  • The second floor will be used mainly for passengers in transit. However, some international passengers will also arrive on this floor.

  • The third floor is departures, where passengers will check-in, and complete security checks and border inspection.

  • The fourth floor contains a wealth of restaurants, hotels etc, many of which will be serving traditional Cantonese food.


Highlights of Terminal 2


T2 has been equipped with advanced technologies and artificial intelligence equipment, making it easier for passengers to go through customs and security checks.

Facial recognition technologies, robots, self-service declaration machines and other technologies and equipment are in place, allowing passengers to enjoy smoother passage through customs procedures.

Airlines that are moving to T2  


According to the airport, these airlines have been the first airlines moving into T2 on the first opened day. 

  • Xiamen Airlines (affiliated to China Southern Airlines), 

  • Kenya Airways, 

  • Garuda Indonesia,

  • Saudia.

The Airport authority reminds all passengers to arrive at the airport as early as possible for check-in in case they make a mistake. 

Since China Southern Airlines has postponed its moving date, the company reminds passengers to double-check whether their flight is scheduled to depart from T1 or T2. However, some of China Southern’s flights may share flight codes and be operated by Xiamen Airlines, and passengers should go to T2 for their check-in and boarding procedures.

12 airline will be moving to T2 on May 19, they are: 

  • China Southern Airlines, 

  • Hebei Airlines, 

  • Sichuan Airlines, 

  • Chongqing Airlines, 

  • Aeroflot, 

  • Air France, 

  • China Airlines, 

  • Japan Airlines, 

  • Korean Air, 

  • Singapore Airlines, 

  • Thai Airways,

  • Vietnam Airlines.


How to go to the T2 terminal?


The Ground Traffic Center (GTC) with 3 more parking areas are opened to coincide with T2, providing additional 5000 parking spaces. You can also go there by the means below.

Airport North, the terminus of the northern extension of Line 3, opens in conjunction with T2. Airport North station has two exits, and passengers can go to the GTC (Ground Traffic Center) via Exit A and enter T2 via Exit B. 

Shuttle Buses 

You can go to the T2 terminal by shuttle buses whatever you are from the city centre or other PRD cities.

Railway Station

Meanwhile, a railway station is being planned, and in future passengers can travel directly to T2 via inter-city rail from other PRD cities.


#What to do if you go to the WRONG TERMINAL?

From 6 am 26th Apr, passengers can make use of the free metro shuttle between the T1 terminal (Airport North) and T2 terminal (Airport South). “One-stop comprehensive service centers” will be set up at both Airport South and North metro stations, providing passengers with Chinese-English consultation service


Moreover, passengers can take free shuttle buses. Buses will be run every 5-15 mins between terminals and the service will be provided 24 hours a day.
