Official WeChat account and website of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs announced an important notice about the Work Permit Extension on 11th December last year. And the policy is officially carried out today.

About the Notice
According to the PRC on Administrative Permission, if licensee intends to extend the administrative permission, he or she needs to go through the application procedures 30 days before the date of validity.
That means, since February 28 in 2018, work permit extension application must be submitted 30 days before visa validity. If overdue, the application will be unavailable and the applicant shall apply for another new work visa.
What are the Differences?
Before
In the past, you just needed to apply for work permit extension before visa deadline at the Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs.
After
The new policy carried out on February 28th requires that work permit extension application should be submitted to the online system 30 days previous to the validity date of Employment Permit.
But here to remind you that the validity of visa is different from the validity of your work permit. In this case, you need to refer to the date remarked on your Alien Employment License or scan the QR code of your working card to make sure the validity.

For example, Mr. B, who comes from Pakistan, owns an Employment License with the maturity date of May 1st, 2018, and he wants a work permit extension. So, he need to submit his extension application before April 1st. Otherwise, his application will be available, and the extension will be failed. After that, he has to go back to his country and re-apply another new Chinese work visa.

Points For Attention
❶ If your work permit is about to expire, please apply for extension 30-day earlier than the deadline but no more than 90 days. If you apply for extending Working Permit on the same day it expires, there is no doubt that your application will not pass.
❷ Since there are 7 days of Chinese new year holidays in February, from February 15 to February 21, 2018 (Thursday - Wednesday), the service system for foreigners working in China may doesn’t work during the holidays. So if your work permit is about to expire, please pay attention to the holidays and apply much earlier.
❸ The documents for extending working permit may be a little complex for foreign friends. So if you need to extend your Working Permit, please prepare all the needed documents in advance or ask professional agent for help.
