
Remember to apply for a Registration Form of Temporary Residence.
When Foreigner arrive China within 24 hours, you have to go to the local police station near your rental home to register your information in detail. If you`re in rural areas, you shall report to local police stations or residence registration office within 72 hours.

If you are living in a hotel,you should go to the hotel reception and get a residence certificate first, and don't forget to ask the hotel put their stamp on the form! That`s easy to get the registration form.
Please bring those following documents to the nearest police station to apply for the Registration Form of Temporary Residence
1. Original passport.
2. Original rental contract: IF the house was rented by your company name, then an extra company statement is necessary)
3. Copy of the landlord's ID card
4. Copy of the landlord's certificate of Real Estate Ownership
5. Hotel`s residence certificate (Depends)

And for those people who has already registered, if you meet with following situation, you have to register again:
A. For those people who has residence permit now (Purpose: work, study, family etc.), when you move to a new address or change a new passport number, you have to re-register.
B. For those people who has none residence permit now (L visa, M visa etc.), every time you leave China and re-enter, you have to re-register.

Notice: If you register too late, maybe the police will charge you fine. Please notice as the regulation, the fine is from minimum 0RMB (warning) up to maximum 2000RMB.
Take care of your passport since it`s very important.

However, if you lose your passport or get it stolen, what shall you do?
★ Step 1: Obtain a "Receipt of Report" from the Police Station.
You should immediately report the loss to the local police station, who will give you a relevant lost report.

★ Step 2: Obtain a "Confirmation of Reporting the Loss of Passport" from the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau.
you must provide the following documents:
1. Original and photocopy of "Receipt of Report" from the Police Station (step 1)
2. Some 2 inch recent photographs and receipt of those photographs.
3. Report Form with completed statement regarding the lost or stolen of passport.
(Forms are available on the 2nd floor of the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau.)
4. Copy of lost passport or other certificates that can verify your status (ID card, Driver License, Social Security Card, etc.)
5. Registration Form of Temporary Residence
6. Photocopy of your Foreigner's Residence Permit, if you are a Foreigner's Residence Permit holder;
7. Other documents considered as necessary by the public security authority.

★ Step 3: Apply for a new passport or replacing certificates at your embassy or consulate in China
The validity of a "Confirmation of Reporting the Loss of Passport" is 30 days.
Those who failed to finish such proceedings within 30 days will constitute illegal stay in China and will be punished according to the law.
★ Step 4: Obtain a Chinese visa or Residence Permit from the Exit and Entry Administration Department of Public Security Bureau
To make sure you can continue your stay in China or exit china, you must apply for a new Chinese visa or Residence Permit to the Exit and Entry Administration Division of the Public Security Bureau immediately after you get a new passport or replacing certifications.
