If you have spent a length of time living in China, you have surely heard about that mystical permanent residence card for foreigners otherwise known as a Chinese green card or “外国人永久居留证”. But up until November 2011, only 4700 people captured this “honor”. Compare to China, the USA issued about 1 Million Green Card each year. China Green Card seems to be the most strict Green Card in the world,The high standard to apply the Green Card makes it counts little.
The Chinese Premier Li keqiang recently announced that China`s going to lower the standard of the application , as a result , it`s more convenient to get the Green Card.
After two years preparation, the Tianjing Free Trade Zone is ready, more than 100 creative institutions will be discovered, including lower the application criteria of the Chinese Permanent Resident certificate. Tianjing is the first city to undertake the strategy in China,and there would be more.
In order to qualify for Green Card holder status, you must fulfill at least one of the following criteria:
I. Be a high-level foreign expert holding a post which promotes China's economic, scientific and technological development, or social progress.
II. Have made outstanding contributions of special importance to China
III. Have made a large direct investment of over US$ 500,000 in China
IV. Have come to China to be with your family, such as spouse, dependent minors or senior citizens.
Those criterion are very strict in practice thus making China Green Card precious,it is as same as an honor. The government used to hold a ceremony to issue the card.
According to a report of CCTV, the major holders of Green Card are from Korea、Philippine、Brazil、Indonesia and America in sequence. The major applicants are from America、Japan、Canada、Australia、Germany.
On the current stage,there are two kinds of people who have the requirement of Green Card. The First one, who is working in China. The second one, who`s family is in china.
To the consideration of Talent Introduction, China is urged to lower the Green Card criterion of the skilled migrants.
