Recently, HACOS received a lot of questions about how to apply for a Guangzhou license plate ( referred to as GZ Plate in the following text). So I studied the related policy of Guangzhou and now share the information with you, which, I hope, can give you a clear idea of GZ Plate application. 
1. What does a GZ Plate refer to?
“粤A” is the unified code for Guangzhou license plates. And a GZ Plate especially refers to a blue one, which is applicable for an ordinary vehicle.
2. Who can apply for a GZ Plate?
An organization or an individual.
A.
An individual applicant (including self-employeed businessman) should meet the following qualifications:
① living in Guangzhou ( including Zengcheng and Conghua);
② having a valid certificate of identity, and having lived in Guangzhou for at least 2 consecutive years, and having stayed at least 9 months each year, if he/she is a Hongkong, Macao or Taiwan citizen, or an overseas Chinese, or a foreigner.
③ Owning a valid China Driving license.
④ Have no small-or-medium-sized vehicle′license plate that has been forcefully
⑤ Have no unused license plate which is obtained by license plate lottery within the latest 2 years.
B.
An organization applicant ( including self-employeed businessman) should meet the following qualifications:
① Have a 《Tax Registration Certificate》 and an 《Organization Code Certificate 》or the integrated license of the《Business License》， 《Organization Code Certificate》and the《Tax Registration Certificate》 , at the same time, having paid over 10, 000 RMB of tax in the last tax year;
② Have paid over 10,000 RMB of tax in the year which it′s registered, if it′s a newly-registered company that has obtained a business license.
③ Have no unused license plate which is obtained by license plate lottery within the latest 2 years.
3. How to apply? What are the procedures? How much is the application fee?
Procedure:
①According to the policy, to start with, the applicant should go to the only available website (jtzl.gzjt.gov.cn), and fill in the information as required. If you could not fill the information online , you may need to submit paperwork to or sign paperwork at a certain place.
②If the application is submitted and passed, then the applicant will get a valid code. With this code, the applicant can participate in a license plate lottery or a bidding, which are held regularly.
③Organization applicants and individual applicants will separately take part in the lottery once a month. Those who submit their applications after the 9th day of a month, will have to wait until next month to get a chance for a lottery or bid.
④After a lottery, the applicant can check the results on the specified website. Those who submit their applications before or on the 8th day of each month can check the lottery results since the 23th day of the same month.
Application Fee:
A license plate lottery requires no fees, while a bidding requires 2.000 yuan of cash deposit.
4. What if I failed in the lottery or bid?
For those individuals who have gained valid codes but failed in the lottery, their codes can stay valid for the next 3 months, during which they can continue to participate in each month′s lottery. But they need to apply for an extension before the code expires.
For organizations, their codes can stay valid until December 31th of the very year, during which they can continue to participate in each month’s lottery. But they need to apply for an extension before the code expires.
5. How can I get my license plate if I won the lottery or bid?
You can download the Confirmation Letter on jtzl.gzjt.gov.cn and print it out or get it from the office counter after making an appointment by calling the hot line on 96900. With this Confirmation Letter in your hand, you can officially register your license plate.
