
Any Chinese Citizen plan to marry or divorce with foreigners (including permanent and temporary resident foreigners, overseas Chinese, foreign immigrants), Hong Kong Compatriot, Macau Compatriot, Taiwan Compatriot or overseas Chinese,both parties shall jointly file an application in the marriage registration office of Civil Affairs Bureau , according to Chinese laws.

The documents for registration are depent on the applicant`s nationality:
For Chinese Citizen
1.The Household Residence Book, Personal ID Card (Note: the marital status on the Household Residence Book shall be consistent with the actual marital status of the applicant, which shall be “single”, “divorced”, or “widowed”).
2. Declaration with signature which declares that the applicant has no lineal relative by blood and collateral relatives by blood up to three generations with the other party.
3. Photocopies (A4): the first page and the personal information page of the applicant`s Household Residence Book; both sides of the Personal ID Card.

For Overseas Chinese
1.The valid passport of the applicant.
2.Declaration issued by the notary office or the authoritative agency in the country of residence and authenticated by the embassy (consulate) of the People`s Republic of China in that country, which declares that the applicant has no spouse and is neither the lineal relative by blood nor the collateral relative by blood up to three generations of the other party; or certificate provided by the embassy (consulate) of the People`s Republic of China in the party`s residing country, which certifies that the party has no spouse and is neither the lineal relative by blood nor the collateral relative by blood up to three generations of the other party (The name, date of birth, and certificate number appear on the single status certificate must be consistent with those on the passport, and the applican`s current marital status must be clearly indicated as single on the single status certificate).
3.Translated documents of certificate of no spouse and certificate for non-relative by blood (everything in foreign language must be translated into Chinese).
4.Photocopies (A4): the personal information page, photo-containing page, and the latest port entry page of passport.

For Foreigner
1. The valid passport or other valid international travel certificates of the applicant.
2. Certificate of no spouse issued by the notary office or the authoritative agency in his/her home country and authenticated by the embassy (consulate) of the People`s Republic of China in that country or home country`s embassy (consulate) in China; or certificate of no spouse issued by the embassy (consulate) of the applicant`s home country in China (The name, date of birth, and certificate number on the single status certificate must be in consistent with those appearing on the passport, and the applicant`s current marital status must be clearly indicated as single on the single status certificate).
3. Translated documents of certificate or declaration of no spouse (everything in foreign language must be translated into Chinese).
4. Photocopies (A4) of valid passport or other valid international travel certificates: the personal information page and photo-containing page of passport or certificates, valid visa page, and the latest port entry page of passport.

For Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan Compatriot
Personal ID and Declaration or certificate of no spouse .
For Both parties are foreigners
Valid residence permit (Work or Study), certificates of no spouse (within China`s territory) issued by employee or school ; Certificate of no spouse issued by the notary office or the authoritative agency in his/her home country and authenticated by the embassy (consulate) of the People`s Republic of China in that country or home country`s embassy (consulate) in China; or certificate of no spouse issued by the embassy (consulate) of the applicant`s home country in China.

Conditions of Marriage Registration
1. The parties shall apply for marriage on a voluntary basis.
2. Marriage Age: male applicant must reach the age of 22, and female applicant must reach the age of 20.
3. Both parties shall have no spouse (shall be single, divorced, or widowed).
4.Both parties shall not be the lineal relatives by blood or the collateral relatives by blood up to three generations.
5. Have no diseases which considered medically unfit for marriage.

Notice
1. Both parties should take a health examination in the Marriage Registration Department appointed hospital
2. Provide 3 recent photos taken together (length×width:150px×100px), half-length, bareheaded, glossy, red background.
If an overseas Chinese, Hong Kong compatriot, Macau compatriot or Taiwan compatriot require to divorce with a Chinese citizen, on voluntary basis, and have made suitable arrangement about children up-bringing matters, property separation, and debt settlement, then the both parties shall jointly file a divorce application in the marriage registration office of Civil Affairs Bureau. For resumption marriage case, shall be arranged as marriage procedure.
