China is planning to introduce a national standard for public English translations in order to get rid of the infamous 'Chinglish', the wrong and often hilarious translations of English that the nation is often mocked for.
This new standard will be introduced on December 1st, setting out guidelines for translations in 13 different areas, including transportation, entertainment, medicine and financial services.

The standardization will also include 3,500 commonly used translations for public information as well as common Chinese dishes for menus, a place where some of the more amusing offerings can often be found.
Expressions that are discriminatory or hurtful and those that damage the image of China or other countries will be especially discouraged.
