A tropical depression over the South China Sea intensified into this year’s sixteenth typhoon, named Bebinca as of 2:00 p.m. on 12th August, according to the Guangdong Meteorological Bureau. The typhoon is getting stronger as it hovers over the coastal areas.

The typhoon will possibly make
landfall on Wednesday morning.
It is forecasted that this typhoon will initially skirt the West coast of Guangdong, with a wind speed of 65 kilometers per hour. The typhoon will possibly make landfall on Wednesday morning, affecting the western part of the Pearl River Delta and some cities and counties in Western Guangdong.

As is normal with typhoons, parts of Guangdong and the Pearl River Delta are expected to get heavy rain, with localized downpours of more than 100 millimeters possible. Up to three days of continuous heavy rain are expected.
The typhoon will also bring strong winds and heavy rain to the provincial capital, Guangzhou over the next three days.
