Companies are forbidden from making unauthorized edits to user profile photos and nicknames.
WeChat has banned posts that require users to ask contacts to repost, like, or click to open an external link within the post to qualify for a discount or participate in a marketing scheme.
Operations that require users to open or download another app in order to obtain monetary rewards, physical prizes, and virtual prizes are also banned.
WeChat also widens its ban on fraudulent activity to include group-buying links, including lotteries or sales of goods with an obvious disparity in price and product value.
The links which violate the rules for the first time can apply for unblock to recover access after modifying.
For which violate the rules more than once, they may pass the application after an observation period.
If these links maliciously violate the rules, they will be permanently blocked or banned and other links posted by the related accounts are not allowed to be shared on WeChat.
In the worst case scenario, the related accounts, domain names, IP addresses, and sharing interfaces will be permanently banned.
So glad to hear the news! Many people in my WeChat contacts haven’t talked to me for thousands of years but suddenly sent a link to ask a favor for a discount.
Thank god WeChat finally bans it!
That’s the most annoying thing!
They are not asking for a discount on price, they are asking for a discount on friendship.
