Current Situation
Nowadays, the outbreak of COVID-19 still has big influence on people’s daily life. In order to effectively fight against the pandemic, China has launched strict epidemic prevention and control measures. As for international travelers, there are also some quarantine policies to prevent imported cases. Therefore, it is necessary to know about and stay updated on the new entry policies, if you plan to come to China recently.
According to the latest quarantine regulations in Guangzhou, Guangzhou is implementing a "14+7+7" health management measure, which means inbound travelers whose destination is within Guangzhou are required to do a 14-day hotel quarantine plus a 7-day home quarantine plus a 7-day self-health monitoring.

About the Quarantine Process
All overseas arrivals will undergo nucleic acid tests for free. Confirmed cases and suspected cases, as well as those with fever, will be promptly transferred to designated medical institutions. Other inbound travelers will be quarantined at the centralized medical observation for 14 days. And then they are required to undergo a 7-day health observation in communities. Isolation and quarantine fees are at travelers’ expense.
During the 14-day quarantine in designated venues, inbound travelers need to take four times of COVID-19 nucleic acid tests on the 1st, 4th, 7th, 14th day. If the nucleic acid results are negative, they will be discharged from medical observation.
Elderly people aged 70 and above, minors aged 14 and below, pregnant women and people with underlying diseases can apply for home quarantine.
Home quarantine shall be strictly carried out within 7 days after a 14-day quarantine in designated facilities .
On the 23rd and 28th days of entry, inbound travelers can do free nucleic acid tests with proof of quarantine release.
Impacts on China visa
The quarantine regulations will affect the rate of progress when inbound travelers apply for a China visa at this time.
One thing foreigners should pay attention to is that the quarantine periods also belong to the duration of stay specified in the visa.
If inbound travelers plan to apply for a China work visa, they need to prepare some materials by themselves, such as a domestic medical examination report. However, they can only take the examination after the quarantine, which means the time for preparation will be shortened.
Warm Prompt
Chinese New Year is coming, and there will be no visa service during the festival.
Holiday time: Jan.31st 2022 to Feb.6th 2022
After the quarantine, the Spring Festival will also delay the progress of visa application.
If foreigners want to apply for a visa extension, they need to consider the Spring Festival holiday and make sure they can successfully apply for it before the holiday.
HACOS’s Suggestions
1. Inbound travelers should focus on the current quarantine regulations and plan the entry date in advance.
2. Foreigners should check the expiry date of the visa and confirm whether there is enough time to apply for a visa extension before the Spring Festival.
3. In case your visa may expire during the Spring Festival , you’d better arrange your travel plan early.
