On the 23rd local time, the Office of the US Trade Representative issued a statement announcing the re-exemption of tariffs on 352 kinds of goods imported from China. The new regulations will apply to imports from China between October 12, 2021 and December 31, 2022.

In October last year, the USTR announced that it planned to re-exempt tariffs on 549 Chinese imports and was seeking public comment. After nearly half a year, the USTR issued a statement on the 23rd, making 352 of the 549 items previously re-exempted clear to public. The office said that the decision was the result of public wishes and consultation with relevant US agencies.

Regarding the decision of US to re-exempt tariffs on Chinese imports, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Shu Jueting said on March 24, that will help the normal trade of related products between China and US.
However, China has always believed that the US unilateral imposition of tariffs is not good for China, the US and the world. In the current situation where inflation continues to heat up and the global economic recovery is facing challenges, it is hoped that the U.S. side will proceed from the fundamental interests of consumers and producers in China and the United States, cancel all additional tariffs on China, and push bilateral economic and trade relations to return to the normal track as soon as possible.
