如业界预期,全球最大集装箱船公司地中海航运(MSC)和第二大的马士基航运(MSK)25日共同宣布将于2025年1月终止2M联盟,终结十年来的合作关系正式解散。

As expected, MSC, the world's largest container shipping company, and MSK, the second largest, jointly announced on the 25th that the 2M alliance would be terminated in January 2025, ending their decade-long cooperation.


MSC在去年年初超越马士基,成为全球最大集装箱船公司之后,市场就传出两公司可能解散的信息,实际上自疫情爆发后,这两大航运巨头就走向完全相反的经营方向,MSC拼命买船、造船;而马士基却是一直在并购物流与货代公司,走上一站式综合物流服务商的发展道路。
After MSC overtook Maersk at the beginning of last year to become the world's largest container shipping company, the cooperation between these two companies might be dissolved, as the market predicted. In fact, since the outbreak of the epidemic, the two shipping giants have adopted completely different development strategies. MSC keeps buying and producing ships; but Maersk keeps acquiring logistics and freight forwarding companies, trying to be a one-stop integrated logistics service provider.

在联合声明中,A.P.穆勒-马士基首席执行官柯文胜(Vincent Clerc)和地中海航运首席执行官索伦·托夫特(Soren Toft)表示:“地中海航运和马士基认识到,自两家公司于2015年签署为期10年的联盟协议以来,情况发生了很大变化,终止2M联盟运营将为两家公司继续追求各自的战略发展铺平道路。我们非常感谢此前建立的伙伴关系,并期待在协议的剩余时间内继续进行强有力的合作。在此期间,我们仍然致力于为地中海航运及马士基的客户提供2M联盟服务。”
In the joint statement, CEO Vincent Clerc of A. P. Moller - Maersk, and CEO Soren Toft of MSC say:“MSC and Maersk recognize that much has changed since the two companies signed the 10-year agreement in 2015. Discontinuing the 2M alliance paves the way for both companies to continue to pursue their individual strategies. We have very much appreciated the partnership and look forward to a continued strong collaboration throughout the remainder of the agreement period. We remain fully committed to delivering on the 2M alliance’s services to customers of MSC and Maersk.”

2M联盟是集装箱航运公司共舱协议(vessel sharing agreement,VSA)的产物,2015年,马士基和地中海航运签订协议,旨在确保在亚欧、跨大西洋和跨太平洋航线上能够进行有竞争力、成本效益高的运营,2M联盟协议为期10年,如终止,需要提前2年通知。
2M is a container shipping line vessel sharing agreement (VSA). It was introduced in 2015 by Maersk and MSC with the aim of ensuring competitive and cost-efficient operations on the Asia-Europe, Transatlantic and Transpacific trades. The 2M agreement has a minimum term of 10 years with a 2-year notice period of termination.

目前九大船公司通过签署VSA协议组成了三大航运联盟。
At present, nine major shipping companies have bonded three alliances under VSA agreements.

随着2M联盟正式宣布终止,其他航运联盟的命运与整个行业格局都势必迎来巨变,行业专家Lars Jensen日前预测,2M联盟解散后,船公司仍将通过VSA协议组成不同联盟,比如马士基可能会与达飞结成合作伙伴。
With the termination of the 2M alliance, the situation of other shipping alliances and the entire industry are bound to face dramatic changes. Lars Jensen, an industry expert, recently predicted that after the dissolution of the 2M alliance, shipping companies will still form different alliances through VSA agreement, for example, Maersk may form a partnership with Daffy.

业界多认为MSC规模太大,目前总运力已超过462万TEU,相当于六家阳明海运,将来少了联盟约束,会不会做出对市场影响很大的事情,颇为难测,将大幅提高市场不确定性。
The industry thinks that the MSC is quite powerful. At present, its total capacity has exceeded 4.62 million TEU, six times than Yangming shipping company. In the future, without the constraints of the alliance, it is difficult to predict whether MSC will do anything that will have a great impact on the market. Market uncertainty will greatly increase.

1月27日,汉堡南美Hamburg Süd和海陆马士基SeaLand两家公司先后发布声明称将逐步过渡融合到马士基单一品牌下,这意味着这两家有着悠久历史的航运品牌将从此消失。
On January 27, Hamburg Süd and SeaLand announced that they would gradually integrate into the Maersk single brand, which means that the two shipping brands with a long history will disappear.

此外,马士基旗下的其他多个航运物流相关品牌也将逐步合并到马士基单一品牌之下。
In addition, many other shipping and logistics related brands under Maersk will gradually be merged into Maersk's single brand.
