CN eases COVID control! But things you must do after entry!

上周，中国再次放松国内防疫管控要求，取消大规模核酸检测，出入公共场所不再查验核酸检测阴性证明以及健康码。

Last week, China again relaxed its domestic control measures on COVID-19, for example, no longer mass COVID tests and check on COVID negative results and health codes in public places.

中国铁路已经官宣，购票、乘车及进出站停止查验48小时核酸证明和健康码，各个机场也已经宣布不再查验旅客核酸检测阴性证明、健康码。

Also, China Railway has officially announced that there is no require for passengers to show their 48-hour COVID negative results and health codes when buying tickets, taking trains and entering the station. The airports have also said that they will stop to not check COVID negative results and health codes.

至于入境人员，中国早在11月也已优化了相关政策，包括取消入境航班熔断机制；登机前48小时内2次核酸阴性证明，调整为登机前48小时内1次核酸检测阴性证明；将 “7天集中隔离+3天居家健康监测”调整为“5天集中隔离+3天居家隔离”。

As far as inbound personnel are concerned, China has also optimized relevant policies as early as November, including no more suspension for inbound flights; only ONE negative result within 48 hours will be required when boarding, instead of 2 tests before; the quarantine time will be shortened to "5-day centralized isolation + 3-day home isolation" form pervious “7+3” policy.

临时住宿登记

Temporary Accommodation Registration

根据《中华人民共和国出境入境管理法》第三十九条第二款规定，外国人在旅馆以外场所居住或住宿的，入住后的24小时内必须申报住宿登记，否则将给予警告同时可以处以二千元以下罚款。

in accordance with paragraph 2 of article 39 of the <Exit and Entry Administration law of the People’s Republic of China>, foreigners who reside or lodge in places other than hotels must report their accommodation within 24 hours after check-in. Otherwise, a warning will be given and a fine of less than 2,000 RMB may be imposed.

以广州为例，外籍人士临时住宿登记可以有两种方式——现场登记和线上登记。

Taking Guangzhou as an example, there are two ways for you to register your stay: on-site and online.

现场登记 On-site Registration

携带护照、租赁合同、房产证，与房东一起到居住地所属派出所办理。不同派出所的要求可能有所不同，建议办理前先致电派出所确认。

Bring your passport, lease contract and property ownership certificate, with your landlord, to the local police station where you live. There might be differences on the requirements of different police stations may be different. It is better for you to have a call for confirmation before going to the the police station.

线上登记 Online Registration

登陆“广州市公安局境外人员网上服务系统”。 网址 website：https://gzwg.gzjd.gov.cn/

Log in to the “Guangzhou Public Security Bureau Integrated Service System For Foreigners and Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan Residents”。

选择“个人住宿申报”，按要求填写相应信息。

Click "Individual Accommodation Declaration” and fill in the corresponding information as required.

*线上登记可能会出现信息无法查询的情况，影响后续签证延期或居留许可申请，所以建议亲自去派出所现场登记较为稳妥。

*Online registration may lead to the situation that information cannot be queried later, which might affect your visa extension or residence permit application, so it is recommended to go to the police station to register in person.

居留许可

Residence Permit

外籍人士在中国的停留时间取决于签证上的停留期限，时间因签证类型而异，从几天到30天、60天、90天、120天、180天不等，如Q2签最多只能在中国停留180天。

The duration of foreigners' stay in China depends on the “Duration of Each Stay” indicated on their visas. The duration differs by the visa types, ranging from a few days, to 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 120 days and 180 days at most. For example, a Q2 visa holder can only stay in China for 180 days at most.

如果想要继续留华要至少在到期日前一周向公安机关申请签证延期，否则视为逾期非法居留。

If you want to stay longer than the issued duration, you need to apply for China Visa Extension from public security authorities at least one week before the expiration date. Overstaying is against the laws of China.

所以，如果你是想长期留在中国，可以考虑转办在华居留许可了，可以免去多次签证延期的麻烦。

Therefore, if you really want to stay in China for a long time, it can be a good option to apply a residence permit. It can help you out of endless visa application and extension.

居留许可通常有效期为1年至5年，期间可以自由出入境，无需再申请新的签证。居留许可到期后，也可以直接在中国境内申请延期，无需出境后办理。

The residence permit is usually valid for 1 to 5 years. During this period, you can enter and exit China freely without a new visa. Besides, you can also directly apply for an extension without leaving the country.

有一点要注意的是，如果你持有的是工作签证或是学习签证，入境后是必须要去申请居留许可的。

However, it should be noted that if you are holding a work visa or a study visa, you must apply for a residence permit after entering the country.

因为你的签证上并没有明确写明你的停留期限，而是写着“000days”。

Because your visa does not specify the duration of your stay, but says "000days".

其实，“000”天是长期签证的特殊说明，如工作（Z）签证，学习（X1 / X2）签证，外国记者（J1）签证和居民（D）签证。

“000” days is a special note for certain long-term Chinese Visas, like China Work (Z) Visa, China Study (X1/X2) Visa, China Foreign Journalist (J1) Visa & China Resident (D)Visa. 

这类标注并不意味着持有人不能留在中国，或者可以无限期地留在中国。这类签证的持有人必须在入境后30天内到停留地公安机关申请居留许可，具体停留期限会体现在居留许可上。

It doesn’t mean the holder can’t stay in China or they can stay in China without limitation of length of duration. They are required to apply a residence permit in the local Public Security Bureau within 30 days upon arrival. Their accurate duration of stay will be specified on the residence permit.

如果被公安机关发现非法居留，轻则罚款（处以每非法居留一日五百元，总额不超过一万元的罚款），重则拘留（五日以上十五日以下）或者是驱逐出境，还会影响到下次来华签证的申请。

If the public security authorities find out your illegal stay, you may be fined (500 yuan per day of illegal stay, but not more than 10,000 yuan in total), or detained (more than 5 days but not more than 15 days) or deported. The record of illegal stay may also affect your next visa application to China.
