Every foreign baby born in China needs to undergo birth registration in addition to the birth certificate. However, Nancy and her husband were not familiar with the Chinese laws. They only applied for a birth certificate for the baby, but didn’t go to the immigration management agency for birth registration! For a foreign baby born in China, parents must remember to register for birth within 60 days of birth and apply for a residence permit within 120 days after the birth registration. The registration can be exempted for a foreign baby who can obtain a passport within 60 days of birth, and the residence permit can be directly applied.

Original passport of the foreign parents
Original birth certificate of the baby
One-inch larger photo of baby with blue background and the photo receipt
When applying for a baby residence permit, not only the above three documents are required, but also a Registration Form of Temporary Residence for the baby and original and photocopy of the baby's passport.
If the birth registration is not completed in time, you may face a fine of 2,000 yuan!
