On Sept 15, NIA announced that China will use the new Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card from Dec 1!

The new version design and technical enhancements focus on three main aspects:
Adjusting chip storage technology to optimize the storage of card information and enhance personal data protection and security through advanced anti-counterfeiting technology.
Expanding the card number from 15 to 18 digits, which includes foreigner identification codes, nationality codes, and issuance area codes, ensuring each person has a unique number that remains the same for life.
Improving the layout and adding a new Great Wall pattern and five-star elements that represent the country, effectively conveying China's image and ideology to the world.

After the new card is officially put into use, with upgraded technology and strengthened functions, you can handle private affairs such as transportation, consumption, and finance on the online service platform, which further facilitates your work, study, and life in China.
