What should you do if your visa expires when staying in China?

Foreigners whose visas become invalid during their stay or residence in China will be considered as illegal residence!

Foreigners who reside in China illegally shall be given a warning; where circumstances are serious, they shall be imposed with a fine of RMB 500 yuan per day, with a cap of RMB 10,000 yuan in total, or be detained for not less than five days but not more than 15 days.

So, after realizing that the visa is invalid, report it immediately to the public security authority in the area where you are living in, and accept the punishment. 

Then, you need to bring the Decision of Administrative Punishment and the Notification for Visa Application issued by the public security authority to the designated entry-exit office at the asked time, both specified in the Notification, for visa application.

Remember to log on the official website of Guangzhou Public Security Bureau Integrated Service System For Foreigners and HongKong/Maucau/Taiwan Residents to make an appointment in advance!
