How long is a work visa
for expats valid?
The validity period of the Chinese work visa is usually 1-5 years. Different talent categories, the validity period of the visa is very different, and the subsequent extension of the validity period is also different!
High-end talent (Category A)
Up to 5 years, with a second extension of up to 2-5 years after the initial application.
Professionals (Category B)
Maximum 2 years, renewable from year to year, with the third year available for 2 years
Other personnel (Category C)
Usually 1 year.
How to apply for a Chinese
work visa extension?
Before 30 days of the expiry date, expats should apply for an extension to the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau where their work unit are located.
Needed documents：
○Application form for foreigner's visa document (a standard photo must be attached and signed by yourself);
○Accommodation Registration Form (original)
○ Passport (original and photocopies of the information page, visa page, and entry stamp page)
○Foreigner's work permit (copy of information page);
○ Official letter (application letter issued by the company).
Processing completion time
