What procedures should foreigners complete after giving birth to a child in China?

The arrival of a new life is a precious gift from heaven. After giving birth in China, foreign parents must promptly apply for their baby's residence permit to avoid their child being categorized as an 'illegal residence'.
How to apply for a residence permit for your baby? There are two methods!
One way is to go to the embassy in China of your baby’s country of citizenship to apply for a passport for the baby, and then go to the exit-entry administration bureau in your city to apply for a residence permit for the baby. This process needs to be completed within 60 days after the baby is born!
What if there's not enough time within 60 days to get a passport for the baby?
We can also choose the second method: within 60 days of the baby's birth, bring relevant documents to the entry-exit administration bureau in your city to undergo birth registration.
Then, go to the embassy in China of your baby’s country of citizenship or come back to your home country to apply for a passport for your baby.
Finally, apply for a residence permit within 120 days of the baby's birth. This way, you will have more time to process the documents.
Please note that if the relevant documents for the baby are not completed within the specified time, the parents, as guardians, may face fines.
