OVERSTAYING
Overstaying refers to the act of a foreigner remaining within the country after the expiration of their visa, stay permit, or residence permit.
According to chapter 3, Article 15 of the"Exit and Entry Administration Law", foreigners who overstay will be subject to corresponding penalties.

Foreigners who overstay may face a fine ranging from 500 to 2,000 RMB per day. Depending on the number of days overstayed and individual circumstances.
For example, overstays of less than 10 days might only result in a verbal warning, but starting from the 11th day, the fine is 500 RMB perday, with a maximum total fine of 10,000 RMB.

For who overstays exceeding 30 days, administrative detention may be imposed in additionto the fine.

According to the "Exit and Entry Administration Law", foreigners who overstay for more than 30 days will be added to a "restricted entry" list, have their visas or residence permits in china automatically canceled, and may be subject to deportation.
Even only get a warning, or a small fine, that goes on your permanent administrative record, which means that everytime you try to enter China again in the future ,officers can use this as a reason to deny you future residence permits or visas, and without that you cannot legally work in china again.
