What is S visa?

The S visa is a long-term personal business visa, which is divided into S1 and S2 types. It is mainly issued to spouses, parents, children under the age of 18, parents of spouses of foreigners who reside in China for long-term visits for work, study and other purposes, and persons who need to reside in China for other personal matters.

S1 Visa
The s1 visa is issued to spouses, parents, children under the age of 18, parents of foreigners residing in China for work, study and other purposes for long-term (more than 180 days) visits, and persons who need to stay in China for other personal matters.
Applying for the S1 visa, you must apply for a long-term residence permit within 30 days of entering the country. The duration of the S1 visa is based on the duration of the work or study residence of the inviter, which can be up to 5 years.
S2 Visa
The S2 visa is issued to the family members (spouse, parents, children, children's spouses, siblings, grandparents, maternal grandparents, grandchildren, grandchildren and parents of the spouse) of foreigners who are visiting China for a short period (not exceeding 180 days) for work, study and other purposes, as well as persons who need to stay in China for other personal matters .
Applying for the S2 visa, the single stay time is less than 180 days, if more than 180 days, you can extend at the immigration department, or change to another type of visa.

4. Invitation letter issued by foreigners residing in China
5. Copy of the inviter's passport and residence certificate
6. Proof of kinship between invitees and invitees
Restriction condition
The S1 visa is only applicable to immediate family members such as spouses, parents and minor children, and is not available for other relatives or friends. If you want to invite other relatives to visit China, you can only try to apply for an S2 visa, so you cannot achieve long-term residence in China.
