When entering China, you can bring no more than 20,000 yuan in cash or no more than $5,000 in foreign currency.
👉If you bring more than $5,000, you have to declare it in writing to the customs.
Exit
The outbound amount is the same as the inbound amount. However, if beyond a certain amount, the procedures required to apply for extra cash will be different.
👉If the cash amount is more than $5,000, but less than $10,000, you must obtain a "Permit for Taking Foreign Currency Out of the Customs Territory" from the bank.
👉If the cash amount is more than $10,000, then you must apply for a "Permit for Taking Foreign Currency Out of the Customs Territory" from the Foreign Exchange Bureau in advance.
