If you’re planning to travel to Hong Kong, or Macau in China, you might have some questions about visa policies. Don’t worry——we’ll answer them in just 1 minute!
First, mainland of China, Hong Kong, and Macau are part of the“One Country, Two Systems”framework. This means that even if you hold a Chinese visa, you cannot directly enter Hong Kong or Macau. You’ll need to apply for a separate visa for Hong Kong and Macau.
However, here’s some good news! Citizens of many countries or regions can enter Hong Kong visa-free, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia. The duration of stay is usually between 90 to 180 days, depending on different nationalities.
If you hold a Chinese visa and are transiting through Hong Kong to mainland of China or a third country, you can enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 7 days in Hong Kong. But remember, this only applies to transit passengers!
In summary, entering Hong Kong and Macau requires a separate visa, but citizens of some countries can enjoy visa-free access.
Before your trip, make sure to check the latest policies to ensure a smooth journey!
