Take as an example your Christmas tree, it might have looked a lot less luminous if not for Martin Luther. Legend says that while walking home from the woods one winter’s night in the 16th century, he was so moved by the sight of the stars shining above the evergreens that he recreated the shimmering spectacle at home by adding small lit candles to the branches of a fir tree he personally cut down. And so the tradition of adding lighted candles to Christmas tree began.

以你的圣诞树为例，如果不是马丁·路德，它可能看起来不那么明亮。传说在16世纪的一个冬天，马丁·路德从树林里走回家，看到星星照耀着常青树，他甚是感动，于是，他在家里的树枝上加了烛台蜡烛，他亲自砍下来的冷杉树的树枝上，重现了刚才闪闪发光的景象。从此，在圣诞树上点缀烛台蜡烛的传统便开始了。

How about those shiny decoration that now decorate all of our Christmas trees? Tinsels, this is their name, were invented as early as 1610 dating back to the Renaissance, and the word itself comes from the French estincelle (“spark”). They symbolize light and are hung on a Christmas tree to make sure darkness has no power during the holiday season.

那些挂在圣诞树上的闪亮装饰呢？它们叫圣诞彩条，早在1610年发明，可以追溯到文艺复兴时期，这个词本身来自法语Estincelle（"火花"）。圣诞彩条象征着光明，挂在圣诞树上，以确保黑暗在节日期间不复存在。

Elie Saab, the master of red carpet couture and sartorial escapism, is the designer that better express all this shiny and sparkle. All his collections, from Spring-Summer to Fall-Winter, not only take inspiration from the most various cultures but they also include details and ornaments that shine bright like a star.

Looking at some of his past collections, they were inspired by the traditional hanfu of Imperial China; the architecture of Antoni Gaudí; the Années folles of post-World War I Europe; the skylines of New York City.

纵观他过去的一些服装系列，灵感有来自中国的传统汉服、安东尼·高迪 （Antoni Gaudí）的建筑、第一次世界大战后的疯狂年代（Roaring Twenties）以及纽约市的天际线。

SPRING 2020 COUTURE

2020年春季高定

For the collection released for the Spring season of last year, Mr. Saab looked to Mexico. Mexico City during the late 19th century and its short-lived monarchic dynasty provided a rich source of inspiration. He was particularly inspired by the Chapultepec Castle and its baroque interiors, which were turned into embroidered motifs repeated throughout the collection, always keeping an eye on the sparkly effect.

对于去年春季发布的系列，Saab先生将目光锁定在墨西哥。墨西哥城19世纪后期及其短暂的君主制王朝为他提供了丰富的灵感来源。尤其他受到查普尔特佩克城堡及其巴洛克风格内饰的启发，这些室内装饰被转化成了刺绣图案，在整个系列中反复出现，始终关注着“闪闪发光”这一着装效果。

SPRING 2021 READY-TO-WEAR

2021年春季成衣

In lieu of a runway show in Paris, Saab debuted a vaguely unsettling film that drew on elements of ritual and ceremony. Among the Lebanese mountains, filled with girls in his signature embellished and ethereal gowns, the show was made to capture the ritual of dancing and moving together celebrating life and giving a sensation of liberty. He conceived of the collection in a series of color capsules, with a main focus on white and gold/shiny details.

想到在巴黎的秀场，Elie Saab推出了2021年春季成衣系列微电影，重点刻画了典礼中的闪亮元素。在黎巴嫩的群山中，到处都是穿着他标志性的、装饰精美的飘逸礼服的女孩，这场时装秀是一场随生命起舞的追逐，给人一种自由的感觉。他构思的这一整套系列礼服，主要侧重于白色和金色以及“Blingbling”的细节体现。
