Zino, aka Luigi Franchi, class of 1973, is an artist who works on the concept of stratification and assembly, theme that symbolises the cultural context in which we live in now characterised by an hyper-exposure to media and by an overlapping of images, information and inputs. Zino graduated from Bologna Academy of Fine Arts in the 90s and after graduating he moved to Rome where he began to work with some artists from the former factory Cerere and where his love for contemporary art was born. His artistic career officially kicked off in 2013, when in a short time he succeeded to exhibit in several public institutions, galleries and art fairs.
His work features the continuous research for new formal solutions to deal with contemporary society. He used to experiment different languages to test the expressive potential at the basis of his work. Close to themes related to the world of contemporary society, from consumerism to globalization, from pop culture to young trends, his path is characterized by the use of different materials mostly belonging to non-artistic environments such as Lego bricks, PVC balls, 3D prints.
His last research roots down in the Tape-Art, which involves the use of different types and colours of tapes to make art. This new communicative mean finds the perfect balance between pop language and street art.
