“蒂安娜的河口冒险”：涉嫌种族歧视的迪士尼“飞溅山”终于被改造了

Splash Mountain will be transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, with the reconceived attraction set to open at Disneyland and Disney World in late 2024. Carmen Smith, SVP, Creative Development – Product/Content & Inclusive Strategies for Disney, confirmed the plans in a blog post.

Disney had indicated in 2020 that it would overhaul the attraction in 2020, sharing the news as protests against racial injustice were roiling the country. Splash Mountain had been based on the Uncle Remus Br’er Rabbit story in the company’s controversial 1946 film Song of the South. As Smith’s post and an accompanying YouTube video took pains to note, the focus of Imagineers in this updated effort is to pay homage to the history and heritage of New Orleans.

早在2020年6月25日，迪士尼集团就正式宣布，旗下三处迪士尼乐园中的该项目即将全面大修，所涉及的主题和形象将会改头换面，重新设计，因为当时美国爆发了反对种族歧视的抗议活动。正如Smith的帖子和随附的YouTube视频所提到的那样，幻想工程师们这次针对形象改造的重点是向新奥尔良的历史和遗产致敬。

“飞溅山”最初的设计灵感来自一部名为《南方之歌》（Song of the South）的迪士尼电影，片中的多个动物形象、两段故事情节外加一首曾获得奥斯卡最佳电影歌曲奖的主题曲，全都出现在了“飞溅山”的布景设计和情节设置之中。

以真人和动画结合手法拍摄制作而成的《南方之歌》，表现的是南北战争之后的美国，主人公白人小男孩乔尼，趁着假期来南方看望祖母，结果与在农场干活的黑人大叔成了忘年交，听他讲述了不少关于兔子兄弟、狐狸兄弟和狗熊兄弟的童话故事。

对于亲历了美国种族矛盾和南北战争的美国非裔来说，《南方之歌》让黑人大叔（农场工人）为白人小孩（农场主的孙子）讲述奴隶制废除之前的农场生活是如何的田园牧歌，如何的悠闲惬意，显然是有意歪曲历史、调和矛盾的不实之词。任由这样的电影大行其道，无疑会让后来人——尤其是作为其主要受众的儿童观众——对当年的美国社会真实状况产生深深的误解，贻害无穷。因此，早在《南方之歌》首映的1946年，在纽约和洛杉矶等地就有黑人民权组织发起多场抗议活动。他们在影院门口树起“别用这种电影来误导小孩”、“《南方之歌》是对黑人的侮辱”等标语牌，希望能阻止观众入场。

自2020年6月初开始，因非裔乔治·弗洛伊德之死而掀起的抗议活动席卷美国各地。继而也有不少人在网络上发起了公开请愿活动，希望迪士尼公司能从善如流，修改“飞溅山”游乐项目，很快便征集到了数万人签名。

While Tiana's Bayou Adventure stems from "The Princess and the Frog," it's not the same story – more like the next chapter. "Picking up where the film left off, guests will join Princess Tiana, Naveen and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure through the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind Mardi Gras celebration where everyone is welcome," Smith said.

“To be able to join New Orleans in the celebration of Black joy as we bring Tiana’s story to its roots is a full-circle moment I’m so proud to realize," Carmen Smith, Disney senior vice president of creative development - product/content and inclusive strategies, said in a statement. Disney's first Black princess was inspired by a real New Orleans icon, the late James Beard-award winning Chef Leah Chase of Dooky Chase's Restaurant.

“Walt Disney Imagineers have been frequent travelers to Louisiana while conducting extensive research to ensure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure preserves the heart and soul of the city that inspired Princess Tiana’s story,” Smith wrote. “From exploring the French Market and the bayou, to consulting with academics, chefs, musicians and cultural institutions, Imagineers have received inspiration from all over the region and learned from local experts along the way.”

The new version of the attraction was revealed at Essence Fest in New Orleans. Charita Carter, executive producer of relevancy activations at Walt Disney Imagineering, described Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as “a love letter to New Orleans.” She added, “Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary.

Disney theme park fans are ecstatic about the new name for Disney's Splash Mountain, praising the company on Twitter for finally removing the "racist" origins of the ride.

"I'm so excited for the new Princess & the Frog themed attraction replacing Splash Mountain," one user tweeted. "It is about damn time that ride caught up with the times. Goodbye racial undertones! It's my favorite and re-theming will only make it better. "

Some users questioned the rebranding of the ride though, as it has been a household name in Disney parks, both in the U.S. and internationally, since the 1990s.

Still, the praise outweighed the criticism. "I think it's neat that Disney is changing Splash Mountain, based on an infamously racist movie, to being themed around a princess of color," another Twitter user said
