预告片为何恶评如潮？
Last week, Disney released the first trailer for The Little Mermaid, featuring Bailey singing “Part of Your World.” Thousands of YouTube users brigaded, leaving more than 2 million dislikes and countless derogatory comments on the trailer, and creating memes ridiculing the film for casting Bailey and mocking all of its supporters.
上周，迪士尼发布了《小美人鱼》的第一部预告片，小美人鱼饰演者Bailey在片中演唱了《Part of your world》。成千上万的YouTube用户集结起来，在播放页留下了超过200万的踩和无数批评，并制作表情包来嘲笑这部电影的选角和其支持者。
Some ostensible fans of Disney’s animated Little Mermaid rejected the new live-action version for swapping out the titular mermaid’s famous blue eyes and red hair for the features of Black actress Halle Bailey.
一些看似是迪士尼动画版《小美人鱼》粉丝的人拒绝接受新的真人版，因为在真人版中，承担“美人鱼”这一名号的角色并没有标志性的蓝眼睛、红头发，取而代之的是女演员Halle Bailey的黑人面部特征。
“Since when are mermaids allowed to be black？I think it’s a pretty far stretch of the imagination to think that a half-fish princess who gets cursed by a magic sea witch in between singing songs with sea urchins could be anything other than white，” said a 40-year-old fan Raymond Cyst.

The negative attention on The Little Mermaid has fueled a groundswell of support from other fans who view such anger as founded in racism.

Black parents across the country are capturing their daughters responding to the new Disney trailer. Videos of children squealing with delight, dancing, tearing up or proclaiming, “She’s Brown like me,” have gone viral, garnering millions of views and sparking a marketing bonanza for Disney.

Precious Avery remembers just how rare it was to see Black characters on television growing up, so she started recording as her 3-year-old, Emery, absorbed the trailer for the new “Little Mermaid” film.

As turtles swam through coral reefs, an image of a mermaid appears, then Halle Bailey, a Black actress and singer, was revealed as Ariel. “I think she’s Brown,” Emery said with a grin. “Brown Ariel!”

The Little Mermaid actress Halle Bailey says seeing videos of young Black children reacting to her appearance in a trailer "means the world" to her. “It was an inspiring and beautiful thing to hear their words of encouragement, telling me, ‘You don’t understand what this is doing for us, for our community, for all the little Black and brown girls who are going to see themselves in you,’” Bailey said.
出演《小美人鱼》的Bailey称，看到黑人孩子们见证她在预告片中现身、并作出反应的视频，对她来说“比一切都更重要”。Bailey说：“她们鼓励我的话语让我感到了振奋与美好。她们告诉我，‘你不明白这对我们、对我们的社区、对所有黑人和棕色皮肤的小女孩来说意味着什么，她们将在你身上看到自己的影子。’”

The WHOLE POINT of “The Little Mermaid” is love. Sacrificial love. Putting someone else above yourself.

Since time immemorial Black people have had to imagine themselves into white roles, women into male roles, gay people into straight roles, trans people into cis roles. It’s time each of those groups had representation of their own.
自古以来，黑人就必须借助想象把自己代入白人角色，女性代入男性角色，同性恋代入异性恋角色，变性人代入顺性角色。 是时候让每一个群体都有自己的代表角色了。
We can imagine ourselves into roles different from ourselves – as in the examples above, people have been doing it for a long time. If a gay man can see himself in a straight woman, why can’t a white person see themselves in a Black character?
并且，我们可以把自己想象成与自己不同的角色——就像上面的例子一样，人们这样做已经有一段时间了。 如果一个同性恋能在一个直女身上看到自己，为什么一个白人不能在一个黑人角色身上看到自己?
Maybe that’s what we should really be taking a look at.
