Musicians around the globe are celebrating Argentina’s exhilarating win over France at the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar. Artists like Ricky Martin, Kid Cudi, Daddy Yankee, Niall Horan and many more took to social media on Sunday (Dec. 18) to express their excitement over the thrilling match at Lusail Stadium, during which Argentina beat France in penalty kicks. “God. This was crazy!! Congratulations!!” Martin, wearing a blue and white Argentina jersey, captioned a video on Instagram of himself celebrating the win.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who had travelled to Qatar for the final, tweeted: “Les Bleus made us dream.” He appeared on the pitch afterwards and comforted Mbappé as the 23-year-old stared blankly into the night.
France’s Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne also tweeted, saying: “Thank you Les Bleus! We have trembled with you all, just until the end. Thank you for this journey, thank you for making us dream, thank you for this exceptional game.”

Nearly 3,000 police and gendarmes were out on patrol in the capital, mainly around the Champs-Elysées, along with nearly 12,000 more across the country, as authorities prepared for they knew not what after France’s second successive World Cup final.
An estimated 600,000 people descended on the Champs-Elysées after France’s victory over Croatia in July 2018, and before this year’s final police predicted that even if France lost, up to 300,000 could be expected.
