远程办公浪潮迎来“拐点”



According to LinkedIn's October 2022 Global Talent Trends report, employers are scaling back remote offerings in anticipation of an economic downturn.

领英2022年10月发布的全球人才趋势报告显示,由于预计到经济会面临下行趋势,雇主们正在缩减招聘远程办公员工的数量。

In September, 12% of UK jobs advertised on the site were remote, compared with 16% in January "

According to a survey released by LinkedIn alongside the data on remote job opportunities, the shift away from them is linked to the current economic situation.

领英发布了与远程办公岗位机会相关的数据,并对此进行了调查,认为工作机会的改变与当下的经济形势密不可分


Sixty-eight percent of executives surveyed said they were concerned that the ongoing uncertainty about economic stability and a looming recession would force their companies to undo at least some of the progress made toward flexible working during the coronavirus pandemic.

调查中有68%的高管表示,他们担心疫情期间持续不稳定的经济现状和即将到来的经济衰退将导致公司取消一些灵活性工作项目。

Graff added that staff and bosses also disagree about the efficacy of working from home. Microsoft Corp. research found that 80% of managers felt their teams were less productive when they were not in the office. About 85% of managers worry they can’t tell if employees are getting enough done, while 87% of workers say their productivity is just fine.

However, several studies over the past few months show productivity while working remotely from home is better than working in an office setting. A study by Standford of 16,000 workers over 9 months found that working from home increase productivity by 13%.

The increase was due to more calls per minute attributed to a quieter more convenient working environment and working more minutes per shift because of fewer breaks and sick days.

In 2021, 70% of those who worked from home during the pandemic report virtual meetings are less stressful, and 64% now prefer hybrid meetings according to a report by Owl Labs.

The demand for flexible work options continues to increase even as availability declines. During the February peak, remote job postings attracted 50% of all applications.

"This year we are seeing a slower pace of growth, as the economy comes back down to earth after a meteoric rise last year in one of the fastest recoveries we have ever seen," LinkedIn chief economist Karin Kimbrough said.

She continued: "Nevertheless, labor-market dynamics remain tight. So, in many ways, employees still hold the power to demand more from their employers when it comes to salary, flexibility, and benefits. But this power balance is likely to start leveling out in the coming months."

Flexibility was listed as the third most important priority to candidates, after compensation and balance. Even with a shrinking number of remote jobs, Jennifer Shapley — LinkedIn's vice president of global talent acquisition — said she anticipates job flexibility will remain a major priority for candidates.

"Even facing an uncertain future, people still highly value two areas of work life that have gotten a lot of attention since the start of the pandemic: work-life balance, and flexible-work arrangements – including remote work. I expect those two attributes to remain top talent drivers for years to come," Shapley said in the report.
