More than a thousand movie stars, writers, directors and other Hollywood professionals announced their “unequivocal opposition” to the proposed Paramount merger with Warner Bros. Discovery in an open letter published Monday.

“Support for this merger that prioritize the interests of a small group of powerful stakeholders over the broader public good,” read the letter. “The integrity, independence, and diversity of our industry would be grievously compromised.”

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has updated its Red List of Threatened Species, officially listing the emperor penguin and Antarctic fur seal as Endangered, as climate change-driven sea ice loss and ocean warming continue to devastate their habitats and drive catastrophic population declines across Antarctica.
4月12日，世界自然保护联盟（IUCN）正式更新濒危物种红色名录，将南极标志性物种帝企鹅与南极海狗一同列为濒危物种，向全球发出气候变化威胁极地生物的强烈警示。
IUCN发现，2009至2018年，帝企鹅数量已减少约2万只，种群规模下降10%，并预测到2080年代帝企鹅数量可能减半。1999至2026年间南极海狗种群数量已锐减超五成。

“These assessments sound an alarm for all Antarctic seals, as we are concerned about how environmental changes are affecting all ice-dependent species. Monitoring of the effects of climate change in Antarctica is urgently needed. ” said Dr Kit Kovacs.
