More about this product
The new Steirereck Restaurant situated in Pogusch, Austria uses ALUSION™ aluminum foam for its exterior cladding. The foam creates a strong yet lightweight panel that has a similar appearance to a metallic sponge. The result is a visually striking building with a modern and dramatic look.
The restaurant is built as an extension to an existing historical building and stands in contrast, both in form and material to the antique wooden cladded building. The metallic colors and clear geometry create a unique visual in the picturesque countryside. The panels are lightweight and easy to install. The specific product selected was the ALUSION™ Large Cell Open on Top foam.

ALUSION™ Architectural Stabilized Aluminium Foam panels
ALUSION™ for architecture is a versatile and unique material with virtually limitless design and architectural applications. As well as its unique appearance, it has sound-absorbing properties making it ideal for applications requiring both sound absorption and beauty. It is used for exterior or interior wall cladding, ceiling tiles, restaurants and bars, offices and apartment buildings, cabinets, furniture, showroom displays, flooring, signs, lighting, fixtures, and exhibits.
The ALUSION™ product is composed of aluminum and contains a ceramic particulate which assists in stabilizing the aluminum cells (bubbles). This is also the reason why it is called “Stabilized Aluminum Foam (SAF)”. The material is flame and corrosion-resistant in the same way as aluminum. It will oxidize and become slightly duller over time (on exterior applications if not powder-coated or painted), but this does not affect physical properties. It is also strain rate insensitive, isotropic, and stable at elevated temperatures. It exhibits acoustic / EMR absorption and vibration damping.
