One thrust bearing shall be located in the pump discharge head between the stuffing box and the pump-motor coupling and it shall withstand the vertical thrusts produced by the pump assembly. Cooling water if needed will be supplied from an external source thrusts produced by the pump assembly.
The pump shaft shall be provided with a sufficient number of radial bearings to provide a stiff rotor construction. Considerations shall be given for dry running at start-up for pumped fluid lubricated bearings.
