The Molten Salt Pumps belong to the Thermal Storage System (TES). The TES system converts the collected concentrated solar flux into thermal energy by increasing the temperature of molten nitrate salt flowing through the receiver panels of the Plant Solar Tower. After passing through the receiver, the hot salt is stored in the Hot Molten Salt Tank and pumped through a series of salt-steam heat exchangers to produce steam to power the Turbo-Generator. After passing through the heat exchangers, the cold salt is returned to the Cold Molten Salt Tank.
