Eindhoven, 20th of October 2021 – The third edition of China Calling, entitled Heal, entails a conference and a networking event which brings together leading Chinese and Dutch creatives, to reflect on design and its potential to heal our planet. China Calling is an official program at Dutch Design Week, supported by 3NTRY, Creative Holland, China Cultural Center Den Haag, and China Europe Design. The event (online/offline) will take place Wednesday October 20th from 13:00 till 17:00 (Dutch time) at the monumental converted chapel Domusdela in Eindhoven, participation is free of charge upon registration.
Heal, refers to the notions of restoring well-being and balance, it directly relates to the current context of the pandemic and to the ongoing climate crisis. What can we learn from the Chinese and Western perspectives on the concept of healing? How can ancient and new healing practices shape design to do good, and not ‘less bad’? Join us to explore new design and healing models which can contribute to a better world.

2021年10月20日，第三届 "中国在召唤 " 会议交流活动以"愈"为主题在埃因霍温召开。汇集了中国和荷兰两地的领先创意人士，重新思考设计及其治愈我们地球的潜力。China Calling作为荷兰设计周的一个官方项目，由Creative Holland、海牙中国文化中心、中欧设计和3NTRY支持。该活动线上/线下同步举行，将于10月20日星期三中国时间19:00至23:00在埃因霍温极具纪念意义的改建教堂Domusdela举行，报名后即可免费参加。

ADELAIDE LALA TAM
Adelaide Lala Tam (HK) is a designer who dismantles industrial food production systems to gain a critical understanding of our modern relationship with food.
Through designing food experience, objects and stories, she communicates the complexities and nuances of this relationship in accessible ways that allow her audience to reconnect themselves to food ecosystems. https://adelaidetam.net
ARIC CHEN
Aric Chen (US) is the General and Artistic Director of Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam. Previously, he lived for 13 years in Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Born and raised in the United States, Chen is a curator, professor, writer and creative director who has served in multiple leadership roles. Including M+, Beijing Design Week, the Design Miami fairs in Basel and Miami Beach, where he has brought exhibitions and conversations around post-nature design and American identities into the fair. https://hetnieuweinstituut.nl
DAVID GIANOTTEN
David Gianotten (NL) is the Managing Partner – Architect of OMA. He oversees the overall organizational and financial management, business strategy, and growth of OMA in all markets, in addition to his own architectural portfolio in Asia, Australia and Europe.
David currently leads the design and construction of projects in various regions, including the Taipei Performing Arts Centre. Previously he has led the design and realisation of award-winning projects such as the Potato Head Studios—a resort in Bali (Completed 2020), Prince Plaza in Shenzhen (Completed 2020). He was also responsible for the end stages of the CCTV headquarters in Beijing (Completed 2012).

LU YING
Lu (FI) is the co-founder and CEO of Future Urban Living (FUL), operating at the intersection of circular economy, design, business strategy and emerging tech. She’s a former corporate CEO turned into a systems thinker, now using her experiences acquired through a range of industries, from digital platforms to the built environment and blockchain to manufacturing, to help organizations translate climate challenges into new and more restorative ways of creating value, by design. https://www.futureurbanliving.com
MARTIJN DE GEUS
Martijn (NL) is an award-winning Beijing based Dutch architect who has been in China since 2010. Next to his architecture practise he is assistant professor at Tsinghua University’s School of Architecture, in the academic research tenure track.
His design philosophy is inspired by his early experience working six years as a zookeeper of gorillas in the Netherlands, and possesses unique creative thinking while understanding the Chinese way of doing things. http://maisonh.nl
OLE BOUMAN
Ole Bouman (NL) is the Founding Director of Design Society, the new design museum and platform in Shenzhen, listed by Time Magazine among the World Top 100 Greatest Places.
Past roles include editor-in-chief of Volume (2005-2007, a magazine he co-founded with OMA and Columbia University) and director of the national Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) (2006-2013). He worked as a curator for Manifesta 3 (2000), and curated national pavilions at the Biennales of Shenzhen, São Paulo and Venice. He was Creative Director of the Urbanism/Architecture Bi-City Biennale Shenzhen (UABB) in 2013-14. Bouman taught architecture and design at MIT and University of Hong Kong. RICHARD HUTTEN
Rotterdam based Richard Hutten (NL) is well known for his conceptual and playful designs. As a true innovator, he has established himself as one of the leading international figures in the field, continuously pushing the boundaries of design. As an expert on the Circular Economy, sustainability is a second nature in Hutten’s designs.
His work is held in the permanent collections of over 50 museums around the world making him, arguably, one of the most collected living designers. https://www.richardhutten.com
XU TIANTIAN
Xu Tiantian (CN) is the founding principal of DnA _Design and Architecture. Her groundbreaking “Architectural Acupuncture” is a holistic approach to the social and economic revitalization of rural China and has been selected by UN Habitat as the case study of Inspiring Practice on Urban-Rural Linkages. http://www.designandarchitecture.net
